A Halloween Photo Essay to prepare you for the week ahead-Pumpkin Carving and some ghoulies too!
Witching you a Happy Halloween
Good morning Norwich and beyond the Upper Valley,
My afternoon yesterday started with a quick walk into town for a little exercise and to take a few photos at the annual Halloween pumpkin carving event that was to kick off at 3:00 pm in the Dan and Whit’s parking lot. I took a few photos along the way of Halloween decorations that residents had recently put up and have included them here also.
I walked past the three witches of Norwitchy woods and knew I had to have this photo in my essay so I reached out to the owner who sent me this cover photo. (photo courtesy of Shannon Kelleher). As I made my way down Main Street, I spotted a few ghoulies along the way.
These I could handle as they were a distance away
But this one made my hair stand up so I just waved back and kept on walking rather hastily.
Would not want to deliver mail in this box.
This photo explains the above mailbox delivery nicely
They all seem to want to wave. What’s up with that?
I arrived at Dan and Whit’s in one piece and looked around for the pumpkin patch.
The sign advertising the weekend events…don’t forget today’s concert
The Dan and Whit’s employees were getting things ready so I took a quick photo
And I do believe it is carving time! These three seem really eager to get this done
And so the fun begins
All smiles as this team works together to carve their pumpkins and achieve their ghoul or is it a goal.
Scooping it up to get that perfect design.
This group is all about the job at hand.
This really seems like a happy group or did someone crack a joke!
The three Amigo’s
A mini display of happy pumpkins followed by the whole group
And the mission is accomplished-These pumpkins will now be distributed along Main street.
I asked Kyle Koehler to send me his video of the pumpkins being delivered along Main Street.
I now left to take a few photos on Church street as I had seen some nice decorations while recently driving by and was greeted by yet another witch and skeleton.
A nice neat arrangement of pumpkins here
And a few different pumpkins directly across the street also
I was invited in to meet some of the neighbors
But I told them I could not stay long after seeing this
So I said goodbye once again waving to my little buddies
And headed back to Main street in a hurry.
This scarecrow was a bit more friendly offering me a chance to check out the decorations and set a spell.
A very nice arrangement

Demo, terrific photos and descriptions. Thanks for being such a wonderful part
of the Norwich community like all us "oldies."
