And here is the latest from your Library executive director and her staff
NPL News
July 3, 2025
From the Director:
My mom used to say, "Through change comes growth." I won't lie—there have been plenty of times when I've wondered just how much growing one person needs! But change is part of life, and while I don't always greet it with open arms, I've learned that it brings opportunities: to stretch, to try something new, to sit with discomfort and push through. And more often than not, the results are pretty great.
We've got some changes brewing at NPL this summer. Erin Davison, our wonderful Youth Services Librarian, is heading north to lead the Youth Services department at the South Burlington Public Library. While we'll miss Erin something fierce, this is an exciting next step for her — more responsibility, a bigger stage, and a new community with which to share her boundless enthusiasm, ukulele magic, and deep commitment to kids and libraries. We're searching for our next Youth Services Librarian and will keep you posted!
You may have also noticed a little refresh with this newsletter. We know your reading time is precious, and we want to make it easy for you to stay in the loop. From upcoming programs and staff picks to tech tips and volunteer shoutouts, this newsletter is meant to capture the spirit of NPL and how you can be a part of it.
And speaking of fresh starts — June 30 marks the end of our fiscal year (FY25). On July 1, I whip out the calculator to tally up library usage (Did we top last year's numbers?) and close the books on the Annual Fund (Did we hit our fundraising goal? We did! We raised $104K). A new fiscal year feels like a clean slate, and there's good news already: the Vermont Department of Libraries just received word that the federal funding from the Institute of Museums and Library Services for FY25 is on its way!
During the summertime the rhythm of NPL also changes. Our busy times can be anytime! Storytime moves outside (if weather permits.) We see AT hikers and lots of visitors. Everything slows down just a bit. One thing that doesn't change is that we are here to help you find what you need.
Happy summer!
Lucinda
New Adventures for Erin
"It is heartbreaking to leave. Didn’t want to leave. Don’t want to leave. Don’t want to think about leaving. I keep telling people this is the best library to work in. I can’t imagine a better community than this."

Website Feedback
NPL will be redesigning its website in the upcoming fiscal year, and we're looking for patron input about how you use it and if there are any key features you want included in the new one.
