A well known local photographer goes on a motorcycle adventure!
A photo essay
Norwich resident Rosamond Orford (Ros), a landscape photographer recently opened her studio during a Vermont open studio weekend sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council. I visited the studio where many of Rosamond’s beautiful photographs were displayed. We had nice a chat. Be sure to check out her first book of photography, Water Colours. You can read more about her in the Norwich Times May 2024 issue.

This story is about what I didn’t know - that Ros likes to ride motorcycles
A few days after my visit to her studio I received a call from Jim Harlow, a longtime friend and neighbor of Ros who had heard that I was at the studio and asked if I would do a short photo essay as he and Ros were about to take a motorcycle ride on his motorcycle. As the story goes, a few weeks earlier Jim visited Ros and pulled into her yard on his shiny “Indian motorcycle 111” with the THUNDERSTROKE ENGINE. The Thunderstroke engine delivers class leading performance - without sacrificing the smooth, accessible delivery that set the standard for the industry.
Ros was really impressed with how nice and shiny the bike looked and told Jim that a long time ago she once took a motorcycle ride at which point Jim said, well why don’t you take another ride on my bike. After a little back and forth chatter they decided that a ride on the bike was meant to be.
The photo essay will show just how much fun this was for the both of them. Photo credit belongs to Jim Harlow.
I met them at the very end of their ride and took a short video of them riding off into the sunset on their way home
Hmmm, wonder if I can just hop on and take off?
Ros Orford - just about ready to be back on a motorcycle after a 60 plus a few years hiatus
OK……….My pit crew now has this rocket ready for take off
I can handle the motorcycle, but these hats they call helmets may be something else.
A great day was had by all and this great lady’s next adventure may be actually driving this beast!
I caught up with them at the corner of Moore Lane and Turnpike Rd and took these two videos.
The first is of them turning around and getting ready to leave
Here is the short video of Jim and Ros driving away and riding off into the sunset
