American Legion Post # 8 news for you
A busy little post that is proud to serve Veterans and the community at large
Good Afternoon Norwich,
I thought I would take a moment and let you know about some of the things that we have been doing here at the post and some upcoming events. The photos and captions tell the story.
A new sign was made compliments of Tom Slater along with a new flagpole that was paid through member donations.
Post everlasting ceremony for Legion member Doc Simon who recently passed
Commander Jim Harlow reading the resolution/ proclamation from the Town of Norwich to Tom Slater in honor of his son Thomas K Slater
A little bit of humor added in
Did you know that you can play cribbage at the Legion Hall every Thursday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 pm? Cribbage was started here by Legion member Earl Thompson (deseased) over 25 years ago as a way to bring in some funds and also get the community together to have some fun. You can walk away after a few weeks and you may actually know how to play the game.
Veteran’s Day ceremony
On November 11, 2021, at 12:00 noon there will be a Veteran’s day ceremony and we will be also honoring the four new names that will be on our monument for 2021.
A solemn tribute indeed (photo taken at last ceremony)
These photos were taken at the last ceremony
The American Legion Post # 8 is having their annual bake sale at the Legion hall
Why not help with our annual bake sale: The bake sale will be held at 9:00 am on November 21 and here is how you can assist
Bake a little something and donate it for the cause
Baking is a good thing as the old saying goes ( everyone “kneads the dough” ) if you know what I mean.
Buy a baked product and support our public service activities
