I received this e-mail the other day, so after reading this I reached out for more info. Here is the e-mail:
There are some MCS children in the Hawk Pine neighborhood who have been excited to make Black Lives Matter signs for the neighborhood and collect money for the movement (they are up to $200). Yesterday they made little bouquets of wildflowers with notes reminding people to vote and distributed them around the Hawk Pine loop. I thought you might want to consider writing a little story about them :)
Thanks,
Erin
I asked her to send more information for the story which I received and some photos of the kids in action. I also learned that the children have collected over $200 for causes related to the Black Lives Matter movement (and hoping to get more donations!), placed positive signs and chalk drawings around the Hawk Pine neighborhood, and made bouquets of wildflowers with notes reminding people to vote (in the presidential primary on August 3), which were placed at the base of their mailboxes.
The children also attended the #Strike4BlackLives, #ShutDownSTEM, #ShutDownAcademia demonstrations on the Dartmouth Green in support of Black academics. They want to bring awareness to the movement within our little town and inspire other children in our community to make a difference.
It appears at least from these photos that these kids are motivated and seem to be able to get their message out.
If you are interested in helping them with their cause reach out to Erin at:
