Good afternoon Norwich and the Upper Valley,
The purpose of this posting is to remind you of the Farmers market outdoor season which will start this Saturday, May 4 rain or shine according to Nica Mieloch-Blinn - Manager of the Norwich Farmers Market.
Hard not to miss this familiar sign
Freshly manicured lawn and spruced up booths
And even a newly graded road; what more can you ask for?
Here is an email that I received with all the pertinent info or should I say all the good stuff. These photos from last years event provided for this story shows some of the goods waiting for you to try and of course hopefully buy.
Hi Demo!
Here is a long overdue bit of info about the Farmers Market opening day, coming up THIS Saturday (May 4th) outside at our Route 5 location. I really appreciate your sharing this whenever it works for you. We will be open every Saturday (rain or shine!) from May 4th-October 26th. Folks can always sign up for our newsletter on our website to find out who will be there each week and who will be playing music. We also try to keep up with our social media so people can follow us on Instagram or Facebook if they want to see some good photos of what’s happening at the market.
Who: Norwich Farmers’ Market
What: May 4th-Opening Day
Where: 281 Route 5 Norwich VT (next to Fogg’s hardware)
When: 9am-1pm
Why: to Support your local farmers and small businesses while enjoying live music, food and time with friends!
This opening day will be extra special with 2 live bands playing throughout the day, some amazing new vendors and lots of fun! We will start the day with Trail Break, a 4 piece folk band from Middleburry college, taking the gazebo stage. Then we will be featuring the Derek Burkins Trio to carry us through the lunch hour. We have so many amazing musicians in the Upper Valley and just beyond, it’s a lot of fun scheduling everyone for the season.
We have several new farmers in our regular weekly mix for the season. Deep Meadow Farm will have a wide assortment of veggies, fruits and flowers when possible, and plants. Stargrazer Farm will be joining us all season with their variety of lamb, apple finished pork, sheepskins and apples as the season progresses. Root 5 Farm will be coming back with their amazing assortment of PowerKraut and kimchis. Flying Dog Farm will be getting their own spot so they can continue to vend grass fed beef, pork and lamb and they will start selling tacos, burritos and various tasty goods using both Flying Dog and Luna Bleu Farm goods. We are also welcoming a weekly cheese vendor to the market with Sweet Rowen Farmstead! They will have a wide assortment of fresh, soft and hard aged cheeses every week.
We will have lots of fun folks alternating week after week: from Kiss the Cow serving ice cream at the market to Newbury Blueberry returning during blueberry season to Brook and Blossom flowers selling the most lovely tulips and daffodils!! Every week will some new and interesting things to share.
We also would like to take a moment and thank Gizmo’s Pickles for their service to the market. Opening day with be their one and only day with us all season and we would like to wish them the very best! I know I will be missing bear jam once they leave.. They do take custom orders and sell at a few other local outlets, folks can always reach out if they need help finding them. They will be missed!
Here are some pictures from last years outdoor season, thanks again for your lovely newsletter and taking the time to be a regular market customer over the years :)
Thanks!
