We had an outstanding turn out for parent teacher conferences. Thank you for making the time to come and learn about the progress your child is making. Hopefully you had any of your questions answered. If you have lingering questions or if your conference prompted curiosity in other areas, please feel free to reach out to your classroom teacher and set up another opportunity to chat.Â
We are heading into the time of year where the weather starts to be unpredictable. The mornings can be chilly and the afternoons warm and toasty. This is the time of year where our lost and found prospers! There are a few things that you can do to ensure that your child’s clothing is returned if/when lost. The number one thing that we LOVE is when parents put their child’s name on the clothing. Writing your child’s name on the tag of the clothing allows us to quickly get the lost items returned to their rightful owners. If ever you are looking for lost items, please feel free to check in with Joy and visit the library atrium. We have a lost and found rack in this area. It is already overflowing!
Are you interested in knowing more about the design for the back playground? There is a dedicated group of parents and teachers who have been working for the past few years to contemplate what a functional and engaging playground will look like. We have come to a set of plans that the committee feels good about. There are two opportunities for you to learn about the playground plans. First, attend the school board meeting on November 2nd at 6:30PM. This meeting takes place in the MCS library and can also be accessed through zoom. If that doesn’t work for you, then you can come to the next coffee talk held in the Multi-Purpose Room at MCS on November 9th at 9:15AM. A huge thank you goes out to our school guidance counselor Katie Cormier for spearheading this work. Also, I would like to extend thanks to Tim Fernandes from our maintenance department for organizing the install of our new swing set. Thank you Tim and Katie for making our playground a better place for everyone!
Enjoy the beautiful weekend weather,
Shawn
 Message From Student Services
Did you know that every week, your child’s grade level teachers, case manager, school counselor, the principal and I meet to talk about students in the grade who may need more support?
We identify these students by looking at academic, behavior, absentee, and other data points. If your child is brought up, your child’s teacher will be in contact with you.
Almost all students need some support in some area at some time. We have a process called the Education Support Team or EST to document these plans and measure success of different interventions.
Families who have concerns about their child should reach out to their child’s teacher so they can bring the child up during these times if they have not already. Â
Also feel free to reach out to me. There are several ways of getting academic, social/emotional, and behavioral support, but some of these access points can be confusing.

Volunteering:
Below is a link for families to fill out regarding various volunteer opportunities at Marion Cross. We will use this info to contact individuals directly regarding specific activities as well as begin processing you for 'designated volunteer' status/background checks. Â
Please remember, all volunteers must meet our 'designated volunteer' criteria including a background check and fingerprinting at the Hanover Police Department before working with our students. This process can take time - if you anticipate participating as a volunteer this year, please make sure you fill out this form to work through the process in advance.Â
Please note: there are two different forms to fill out:
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
