Meet Carl Schellong also known as Mr. Fedex
He will be retiring soon with over 28 years of service with Fedex Express
Good Evening Norwich and the Upper Valley,
This story is about someone many of you may already know as Mr. Fedex. I had heard a rumor that Carl was going to be retiring soon and thought it would be nice to do a story on him. If you should see Carl on the street making his appointed rounds/deliveries, take a moment to say hello and wish him the best.
I finally caught up with Carl at the ice cream window at Dan and Whit’s and while on his break from his normal delivery duties, I was able to take this photo and a couple more.
We headed over to the Inn for a photo also and then it was back to work for Carl as his break was over and he had more deliveries to make before his busy day ends.
Here is Carl’s story and he is sticking to it:
To a lot of people in the area I am known as “Mr. FedEx.”
My name is Carl Schellong. I grew up on a non-business farm in North Pomfret, Vermont. We raised horses, cattle, a few sheep and chickens.
I went to the Pomfret one room school houses for grade school and graduated from Woodstock Union High school. I played football in my high school years. Upon graduation, I went to Norwich University. I was in the ROTC Corp of Cadets and also played football for the Cadets.
After graduation from Norwich, I held several office jobs until joining FedEx Express. I have enjoyed how everyday is different. I’ve seen some awesome country and met many nice people.
My hobbies and interest have always been hunting, exercise and sports.
I am married to my wife, Dana who has a fantastic nanny job for an awesome family in Norwich. We have two sons as well. Lastly, after almost 28 years with FedEx Express, I will be retiring on August 31, 2024. I have enjoyed my time with FedEx. I am sure I will find plenty to keep me busy after my FedEx days are over.
And if for some reason Carl can not find enough to do he can always come over to the Inn and sit by the fountain and just chill a bit.
