Neighborhood artisans, studio tours weekend in Norwich-A photo essay-and still time to visit today
Last day today from 10-5pm
Good morning Norwich and the Upper Valley,
Yesterday was a beautiful day and I ventured out to see first hand the craftmanship of the five Norwich artists that were featured in this fall’s Vermont Open Studio weekend. I advertised this in a recent story after first seeing it on a Listserve post and then on Daybreak. I toured all five and am posting this photo essay so that you can view and hopefully head out today and see it for yourself. They are open today from 10-5pm
Let’s start off with sharing Daybreak’s announcement in a recent posting advertising this event. In here you can get to the websites for all the latest info, and then view my post with all the photos.
SPONSORED: Check out the fine craftmanship of five Norwich artists in this fall’s Vermont Open Studio weekend. The weekend is Oct. 4-5, and in our corner of the Upper Valley, Shannon Wallis Designs (egg art & eggshell jewelry) at 27 Sargent Street, Lisa Johnson Arts (whimsical furniture art and decor) at 5 Kendall Station Road, Kate Emlen (oil landscape paintings & prints) at 12 Elm Street, A Lucky Girl Studio (fused glass, jewelry, & gourds) at 16 Koch Road, and Rosamond Orford (Photography and Pastels) at 1485 Union Village Road will be open each day from 10 to 5 to greet art lovers and display their work. Each artist will raffle off a piece of art. VT map here.
And here is the local map of the Norwich Artist locations and you will see a yellow sign along the way to guide you to your destination.
Look for this sign and just follow the arrows!
Each location will have photos of their work on display for you to see, enjoy and hopefully buy.
My first stop was on Sargent street to visit Shannon Wallis designs.
A beautiful array of Pysanky and batiked designed eggs and jewelry
My next stop was on Elm Street to see Kate Emlen - Art and Design
And here is Kate greeting me with a smile as another guest looks on
More guests arriving as I was leaving so I had to do a photo op
And then it was on to Kendall Station Road to see Lisa Johnson-Hand painted furniture art, and decor
Where I spotted a newly painted mailbox
And Lisa was on hand to give me a studio tour
Unpainted mailboxes ready for the artist
A handy workshop if you will
And then it was an inside tour of the displays
And on the way out there was another visitor
I said my goodbyes and was off to Ross Orford’s on Union Village Rd
And as I arrived so too did the lady from my previous visit so we did a photo op before going in to take a look around. (I did ask her later if she was following me and she just smiled.)
Here is Rosamond Orford showing some of her fine work
I bid them farewell and success with the sale and then haeded over to the last location on Koch Rd - to see Rosemary Orgren- A Lucky Girl Studio- Glass vessels, jewelry, and gourds,
As I was entering another visitor was just leaving
All smiles here
And nice conversation here !
The workshop
And the next two photos of the machines used in the process
Rosemary with her designs
I hope you enjoyed the photo essay and remember there is still time to head on out to see this for yourself in person today or visit online in the websites.
