Newly painted crosswalks increase Safety Awareness... A photo essay!
Just in time for Back to school traffic
Good morning Norwich,
The town of Norwich spruced up the crosswalks with new paint and lined the new walking paths that were recently installed on Beaver Meadow Rd. It is hopeful that these added measures will increase safety awareness in and around Main Street and also provide safe passage from Beaver Meadow to the Huntley Park and ride and playground areas. It is also hopeful that the next step would be to add pedestrian crossing signs at all crosswalks so that drivers become more aware of the crosswalk before they get to it. At the end of this photo essay will be a blue link to the original story that was done on the walking path.

Heritage Lane and the walking path with the newly painted lines
At this point the walkway begins and you can go straight down Beaver Meadow Rd, however it stops at Bragg Hill Rd. You can also take a right and walk around Huntley Street and reconnect with the walkway on the other side and then continue on to Moore lane and take a right to connect with sidewalk to Turnpike Rd and onto Main street. This is safer as there is less vehicle traffic.
Huntley and Beaver Meadow is done also
At Huntley Street you can take a right at the pedestrian sign and follow along Huntley and come back onto Beaver Meadow Rd further down by the American Legion Hall.
New crosswalk at Glen Ridge Rd and Beaver Meadow which connects with the walking path and one can get access to the new Kid’s bridge also.
And it extends all the way to Moore Lane and turns right to connect with sidewalk and on to Turnpike Rd.
Koch Rd and Main Street has newly painted crosswalk and solid double lines
New stop line and crosswalk has been repainted

Now here is the photo essay on the sidewalk/walking path installation that was done in June, 2025.
