News you can use from Norwich Recreation, Some pot luck photos and a video from Chad Finer too!
Lot's to do on this chilly morning-with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate-you can take the chill away.
Good morning Norwich:
Lots of info here, a couple of photos from a recent pot luck dinner at Tracy Hall and a nice video done by Chad Finer on the contra dance lessons that are offered at Tracy hall. After all that you can read all about the new happenings at the Recreation Department.
Community Potlucks - Our last potluck had over 125 attendees!
Please join us for the next one on Sunday, February 5th from 5:30-7:30pm in Tracy Hall.
Changes this time around: food tables will be clearly marked for the dishes they hold (Vegan/Vegetarian, Meat Entrees, Beverages, Salads & Breads and, of course, Desserts); we will open the Multipurpose and Conference rooms for those who prefer a quieter space, but still want to socialize with others; new board games will be out on each table, but you are welcome to bring your own to share! Please bring your own plates and utensils to lessen waste. (We will have extras on hand for those who need them).
And here is the You tube video produced by Chad Finer of the recent Contra dance.

18. Norwich Recreation Updates
From: Brie Swenson <BSwenson@norwich.vt.us>
Date: Thu, 2 Feb 2023 20:14:46 +0000
There is a *a lot* going on right now, so this update will be in chronological order:
'Discover Norwich' with the Norwich Historical Society - This series brings you some insight, knowledge and sometimes humor from your neighbors. Last year, Norwich Recreation joined the Conservation Commission to present a session called 'Foraging in the Fields and Forests of Norwich'. This time, we are back with several Norwich families to talk about backyard chickens! Just added - all participants will be entered into a raffle for a dozen eggs from our backyard hens. More information here: https://norwichhistory.org/discover-norwich/
Skating Party - Norwich Recreation and the Marion Cross PTO have had to postpone the annual Skating Party again. Unfortunately, the weather just isn't cooperating this year. We also have an issue with the water line from the school, which the SAU70 Facilities Director is working on. Until that is remedied, and the Hosers can get back to work, the ice on the rink will be bumpier than usual.
Nordic Trail (10K) - Thank you to Jon Guiffre from Allied Contracting, for grooming the 10k Nordic Trail. Now we can all take advantage of this recent snowfall! We were planning to host a Nordic at Night this weekend, but the predicted temperatures make holding this event hazardous. Come explore the lantern-lit farm field at Brookmead with us on February 10th instead! https://norwichvt.myrec.com/info/activities/program_details.aspx?ProgramID=30102 . The fees from this event go directly to help pay for the grooming of this amazing trail. **set up, break down and bonfire volunteers needed**
National Girls & Women in Sports Day Clinic - In conjunction with National Girls & Women in Sports Day, the Dartmouth College Athletics Department will host its seventh annual clinic on Feb. 4 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Leverone Field House. The clinic is open to girls in kindergarten through eighth grade and provides participants with the opportunity to spend time learning skills in a variety of sports with instruction from Big Green student-athletes. On-site registration for the clinic begins at 1 p.m. Admission for the clinic is absolutely free and includes a limited edition Big Green water bottle, a ticket for the women's hockey game against Princeton at 3 p.m. following the clinic and a ticket to the women's basketball game against Columbia on Feb. 18 at 4 p.m. as well. To register your child(ren) for the clinic prior to the event, you can do so online at https://dartmouthsports.com/sb_output.aspx?form=55
