Good morning Norwich,
Each and every school day , Henry arrives at the crosswalk with his caretaker and faithfully waits for me to stop the traffic, gets off his bike and safely walks with his bike across the street.
One day, this past week while working at the crosswalk, I had the most unexpected and pleasant surprise. After stopping the vehicles, I motioned for Henry to cross the street , however he remained still and waited on the sidewalk, at which time his caretaker said he wanted to speak with me. As I was summoned, I went over to speak with him. I asked Henry what he wanted to tell me and he said he made this stop sign for me , but wanted to keep it for himself as it was a special project.
Needless to say, I was flattered. Another day at the crosswalk.
Editor’s note: Photos were provided by the caretaker , and mention of Henry’s name is used with permission of Henry’s parents and caretaker.
Busy building with Legos
Taking a moment to smile for the camera
And proudly displaying the finished project
Henry is on the move
Arriving at the crosswalk, as he is heading to school with the finished project
What a surprise this was for me
As we both proudly hold up our stop signs
