Veterans Day event at the Marion Cross School-Includes videos
To honor our veterans' service to our country
Good afternoon Norwich and the Upper Valley,
This story is about an event that was held at the Marion Cross Elementary school to honor our veterans for their service to our country. It was an assembly held at the multi theater room and the small gymnasium also. There were 10 veterans in attendance and each had a few moments to share their military service experience with the audience. It was a wonderful event for both the veterans , the school children, staff and teachers.
Special thanks to MCS music teacher Travis Ramsey who coordinated the event with the American Legion and to Shawn Gonyaw for his leadership and staff at the school for embracing this opportunity to hear from our veterans. It is my belief that this will be an annual program which is wonderful news.
The planned agenda was as follows: (Under each time slot are photos and or video for that planned agenda item.)
2:30pm: Introductions of the American Legion Post # 8 Veterans ( in the multi theater room)

These two photos are of the 10 veterans who attended the event. Emily Myers took this photo.
The three, the proud , the Army and the Navy but (don’t tell the Marines that though.)
2:35pm: The school showed the video, I Fought For You
Here is the video which was sent to me by US Navy veteran Paula Stevens
2:40pm: Short comments from any Veteran(s) who want to share about what it means to be a Veteran (here are just a few who spoke about their service)
Demo Sofronas introduces CSM Jeff Goodrich the American legion Post # 8 Commander who spoke about what it means to serve and then handed the mic over to each veteran to share their story.
Editors note: I received a few photos from a parent but did not get photos of all veterans speaking but each veteran had a turn at the mike.
