Vroom-Vroom...a scenic ride!.. and a short video
Fueling up at the D & W these Bikers and Bikes are on a mission just because they can!
Good afternoon Norwich and Upper Valley readers,
Today’s story is about a group of Motorcycle riders that happened to be in the Dan and Whit’s parking lot as I was pulling in for a coffee and a snack. I walked over to the group and started chatting about the weather and how it must have been a great day for a ride. Read on and you will see just what a ride it was.
Front Left to Right Marc Johnson, Jeff Robertson, and Dave Tardle
Back Row Left to Right Steve Davis, Alan McBreairty, Colby Johnson AKA Marc’s son.
I first saw this group of riders in the parking lot and walked over to introduce myself and asked if they would like a story done on their ride through Norwich. In speaking with them I quickly realized their little ride was a mere 2000 miles. I had to know more so I asked one of them to give me the details and so here is the rest of the story.
( I took the photos and the short video in the parking lot as they were getting ready to ride out of town.)
Here is their story:
They Left Caribou, Maine on June 14th and stayed in North Conway, NH for the week. They traveled a different route each day, and on this day they headed north thru Berlin, NH to Colebrook, NH and then to Lancaster, NH, into St Johnsbury and on to Barre down route 100 to Bethel and stopping for gas in Norwich at Dan and Whit’s.
I asked Jeff Robertson to share a tale of the trail and here is what he had to say.
“Earlier in the week , on our first day riding, I had one of my bike’s mufflers start to go bad, I had to stop, remove the muffler and continue riding with only one muffler, yes it was loud. I tried to buy some mufflers in NH, but the price was very high and had a set back home, so found a set in Conway, NH, but they were just hollow tubes, so now I had no mufflers, but rode the whole week like that. In the picture Allan was complaining of getting wet in the rain that day, for we ran in and out of rain in the morning, and come to find out he had his rain gear pants on backwards, for inside the gear there is a tag in the front and rear of the pants and he did not notice until getting wet, we teased him for the rest of the trip if he needed help getting dressed, We spent the rest of the week riding and returned home on June 20, overall we rode 2,000 miles, and about 300 to 400 per day. It was very beautiful country and we enjoyed the ride and especially the scenery . Thanks for sharing our story -Jeff Robertson
A short video of the group as the are heading out of the Dan and Whit’s parking lot to continue their adventure.
Two photos are better than one they say!
