Hello Norwich and Upper Valley readers:
Recently I read on the Norwich list serve that there were three Norwich youths who have banded together to form the Norwich handy boys. What exactly do they do I asked myself and why are they are doing this.
So I reached out to the Norwich Handy boys and asked them to share a little bit of the what’s and why’s and here is what they had to say:
The three of us (Ryan Bradley, Nate Boone, and Rowan Riordan) have been building and creating “inventions” for about 4 years. Now that we are older our creations are costing more and more. By using us for your services all of our collected money will go towards our goals for Highschool and farther on. We are excited to start working and making some money.

In order to put this story in the proper perspective you need to know a little history.
One afternoon about a year or so ago, I was driving on Main street and saw three local youths collecting lumber that they were given by someone on Main Street. It was somewhat of a chore as they had several large pieces of plywood and a bunch of used 2 x 4 studs and were trying to balance the load on a wagon. They were having a tough time of it so I offered to have them load it on the back of my pickup truck and told them I would deliver it for them. They walked up the road and I drove in my truck just a few blocks away to the delivery destination. I asked them what the project was and they said they needed a headquarters aka a treehouse. They thanked me and I spoke with one of the parents who said they were determined to get this done. She also thanked me for helping them out
Here are a few photos of the project that they sent me and perhaps it is their first but certainly not their last.
And the construction is underway
It even has some protection from the elements
And here they seem to be just relaxing a bit and collecting their thoughts.
And now for the rest of the story we fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and several listserv postings of advertising their handy dandy chores, lawn services etc. I actually saw them at work while out for a walk and was so impressed that I hired them on the spot to do some yard work for me as well.
Here are a few photos of them working on Kerry and Deb Martin’s lawn:
The Handy boys getting their assignments from Mr and Mrs Martin and always time for a group photo
All smiles here
And a little more serious work going on here as each has their own turf if you know what I mean.
A few days later they were busy at work at another location. I hired them to take care of lawn cleanup , remove a couple of stubborn tree stumps etc.
Each had an assignment to remove the stump by digging around the base.
No it is not a UPS delivery, just a Handy boy looking to dump some leaves is all and to assist the other two on the stump brigade.
They thought it through and worked together and….
Success at last
If you need work to be done around your house be sure to call the Norwich Handy Boy’s as they will get the job done right.
