I hope you are all keeping busy getting your lawns and gardens ready for this next season of spring or should I say almost summer with this nice weather that we are having. This story or posting if you will is about the town of Norwich annual Memorial day parade which will be held this Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 12:00 noon. This years parade coordinators are Emily Myers and Brie Swenson who have been reaching out to the community in hopes of bringing in more community groups to march in the parade alongside the Veterans. UPCOMING EVENTS
Sunday (May 26)
Norwich Memorial Day Observance, Picnic and Music: Begins at noon with parade at American Legion Post 8, with honors at the bridge on Beaver Meadow Road. Veterans and other community groups will then proceed to Fairview Cemetery for honors at Alden Partridge’s grave site. From there, the group will proceed to the Veterans Memorial Area near the flag at Tracy Hall for remarks and honors, concluding with the national anthem. The observance will be followed by the traditional free hot dogs and lemonade picnic on the Green, along with a mini concert of military service and patriotic music courtesy of the Upper Valley Community Band. Tents will be set up to provide shade for attendees. 802-296-3123 or norwichpost8@aol.com

Stepping off at noon from the Post, this year joined by community groups
Stops at the bridge on Beaver Meadow Rd and then to Fairview cemetery to lay wreaths
Final honors and remarks at Tracy Hall
Free picnic on the green afterward, with music by Upper Valley Community Band in the gazebo

Please mark your calendars for Sunday, May 26th, as we join the Legion Post 8
to host the Memorial Day parade! The route starts at the Legion Post 8 -
12:00pm, and follows Beaver Meadow Road to Main Street, ending at the Tracy
Hall memorial. Following the parade, food, drinks and music will be on the
Town Green. All past, current and future Norwich Rec participants are invited
to march in the parade, wearing their Norwich blue shirts (loaner shirts are
available)!
The next community potluck is moving to Sunday, June 9th at Huntley Meadows
from 4-6pm. We will have the grills going!
