A Grange pancake breakfast is always a sweet event!
And this one is to honor the tradition and raise funds for the Grange building project
Good morning Norwich and beyond,
I am sharing with you an invitation to the Norwich Community Collaborative’s upcoming Grange Pancake Breakfast and some news updates. I am also including the original press release in case you missed it that will explain their mission in greater detail. After the news updates you will see some photos from previous get togethers at the Grange so grab some coffee if you wish and think about those delicious pancakes with real Vermont maple syrup as you are reading and viewing this post.
Here is an update with the invitation:
Join the Norwich Community Collaborative as we imagine and plan for the future of the historic Grange building. What does revitalizing the Grange look like?
We will create a thriving community center in a renovated, accessible, energy-efficient building that retains the historic character of the Grange—a space where residents and other local groups can gather for meals, celebrations, performances, and other events that build community. We’d like to hear your ideas, your dreams for how the building could be used to best serve the needs of our community.
One favorite gathering that immediately comes to mind is The Grange Pancake Breakfast! To honor the tradition and to raise funds for the building project we are excited to announce….

PRESS RELEASE
October 23, 2023
The Norwich Community Collaborative Inc. is pleased to announce that it has acquired the building known as Upper Valley Community Grange, No. 581 located at 344 Main Street in Norwich. The Norwich Community Collaborative’s plan is to restore the Grange Hall and to allow it to be used by the community as it has for nearly 100 years. The Norwich Community Collaborative Inc. would like to expressly thank those early donors who embraced our vision for this building and whose contributions allowed us to complete this transaction.
WE HOPE YOU WILL COME JOIN your NORWICH NEIGHBORS
to enjoy scrambled eggs, sausage and pancakes (with Norwich maple syrup!)!!!
News and Updates
First, THANK YOU to our donors who supported the acquisition of the building and our first "Friends and Family" fundraising campaign.
Thanks to you, our winter campaign raised over $13,000 to launch our work to renovate the Grange building! Wow!
Community Engagement
We were happy to host the Norwich Christmas Pageant this year. It was a little chilly in the unheated building for costume changes, but everyone was all smiles!
Building Assessment
We are currently working with Studio Nexus, Waite Design and Engineering, and Estes & Gallup to assess the condition of the building. Thanks to the Preservation Trust of Vermont for supporting this early architectural assessment through a grant from the Robert Sincerbeaux Fund.
Below: Board members, Michael Goodrich and Andy Williams, work to open up sections of the building for the engineers.
Your donations directly funded the engineering drawings needed to apply for grants to support foundation work and porch reconstruction. Thank you!
Get Involved!
Come to the Pancake Breakfast and add your thoughts to our idea boards.
Watch for an exhibit at the library that will include a suggestion box.
VOLUNTEER! We are looking for someone to help us with communications -- sharing our work on social media and via enews such as this one.
